From The Archives: Pablo Honey print ad campaign, c. 1993.
Beavis And Butt-head references? Fan mail addressed to “I Wanna Be A Creep”? The word “rowdiest”?? How Thom & co. ever made it out of their debut album alive is anyone’s guess.
[stereogum.]

Ads of records from days of yore are always ‘rad’ and the copy borders on amateurish, but that’s the 90’s for you.
Wow. Radiohead had a sucky marketing group, no? But they beat that system well and good. Look at ‘em now. Still enduring.
Brings back memories of me in 1994, enrolled for a year in 9th grade in a private Catholic all-girls’ school, and we had seasonal variety shows. The bands were, of course, all girls and what did they play? ‘Creep’ by Radiohead. Hearing this song rendered by a girl is unsettling — and cool! No girl ever wants to be a creep. It’s not a dainty description for girls. Besides, we’re in a Catholic school and you girl rock band like to sing that AND and dig Radiohead? Look at you, indie girls, aren’t you progressive… and awesome. I don’t know any female artist covering ‘Creep’ yet. Maybe there is, I will search-engine this.
